St Pat's warming down after today's game.

Plenty of goals as powerful St Pat's surge on

Backed up by plenty of firepower St Patrick's CS, Navan defeated St Mary's, Mullingar by  4-10 to 2-9 in the Post Primary Schools' SFC clash at Pairc Tailteann today.

The game was full of fast-paced football with Colm O'Rourke's side proving adept when it came to turning opportunities into goals.

St Mary's scored the opening point of the game but it didn't take long for St Pat's to click into gear and they notched up goals in quick succession from Aaron Lynch and Keith Curtis, the nephew of former Meath great Donal Curtis. After just five minutes the Navan side led 2-1 to 0-1.

The Mullingar team did work a goal of their own  later in the half with Trevor Keena neatly tucking the ball away but at the interval St Pat's led 2-7 to 1-4.

In the second-half St Mary's had the breeze behind them and consequently they had plenty of the ball but the found it hard to break down the St Pat's backline.

Navan effectively wrapped up the game with two early goals in the second-half, one from Brian O'Hanlon on 35minutes and another soon after scored by Cian McBride when he skilfully flicked a Sean Commons free to the net.

St Mary's did conjure up a second goal on 46 minutes however there was no stopping the Navan side. In the dying seconds St Mary's won a penalty but Keena's spot-kick was superbly saved by St Pat's netminder Sean Brennan.

Lynch finished with 1-3 in a fine display as Navan keep rolling on.
