Gordon Elliott in Summerhill at a parade after a big race win

Summerhill winner a good omen for Sunday?

This could be a weekend where the crowds will be out in Summerhill on Sunday evening if the local GAA team can win the Keegan Cup.

The Summerhill club is sponsored by top trainer Gordon Elliott and officials from the club are always on hand when it's necessary for an Elliott-trained winner to parade through the village (Don Cossack and Tiger Roll for example).

The weekend got off to a good start for a group of racing and GAA enthusiasts from the village who are members of
the Royals and Blue Syndicate.

They were on hand at Downpatrick today to see Silver Star win a good hurdle race with Davy Russell on board.

However, they had a scare at the last when Silver Star made a mistakle but recovered well to beat Cooldine Bog by more than four lengths.

They might have to endure a scare or two on Sunday as well?

“The owners are all Summerhill men so we are hopeful it's the start of a very big weekend for us as Summerhill play Dunboyne in the Meath SFC final on Sunday,” stated the trainer.
