Dardis fires Summerhill into SFC decider

Summerhill are through to the SFC final for the second successive year as they negotiated a path through Donaghmore/Ashbourne's defensive structure to score a 3-12 to 2-7 victory at Pairc Tailteann this afternoon.

After getting off to a slow start and trailing 0-1 to 0-3 after six minutes Summerhill settled and led by 0-6 to 0-3 at the break.

However it was the tale of two goalkeepers in the opening two minutes of the second period as firstly Tony McDonnell made a brilliant save to deny Paul Gilligan and down the other end Jack Hannigan spilled David Larkin's long ball into the path of Davy Dalton and he made no mistake and fired to the net.

Gary Sweeney's goal gave Donaghmore/Ashbourne hope at the three quarters stage when they closed to 1-5 to 1-8, but two goals in two minutes from Barry Dardis firmly turned the tide in Summerhill's favor and despite a late goal from Andy Tormey there was no way back for Donaghmore/Ashbourne.
