Dunboyne exact revenge to book place in SFC final

Simonstown's dreams of three SFC titles in succession were swiftly put to rest by a superb second-half display from Dunboyne that saw the defending champions outscored by 0-1 to 2-13 after the resumption.

Twelve months ago Dunboyne gave up an 11-point lead when losing to Simonstown in the SFC quarter-finals, but they made no mistake this time despite a shaky start.

Whatever manager Ciaron Byrne and coach Sean Kelly said to the Dunboyne players at half-time certainly worked a treat as they overturned a 0-3 to 0-7 interval deficit with second-half goals from Robbie McCarthy and Cathal Lacey giving them their place in the SFC final.

Simonstown were the better team in the opening half, but they should have been further clear as Mark mcCabe had a penalty saved by Cian Flynn and they also missed a couple of other decent goal chances.

Those squandered opportunities came back to haunt the Navan men as Dunboyne clinically tore them to shreds after the resumption.
