Summerhill surge helps them secure semi-final spot

In-form Summerhill sparkled under the Skryne floodlights tonight as they chalked up a highly impressive 2-19 to 3-10 victory over St Colmcille's to book a place in the last four of the SFC.

The 'Hill were simply awesome in the opening half and with David Larkin outstanding they led 2-11 to 2-2 at the interval. Their goals came from Liam Ryan (penalty) and Larkin with the latter slicing his way through the St Colmcille's defence to fire home.

Graham Reilly rifled home an early goal for St Colmcille's who looked at one stage like they might be swept away in the whirlwind whipped up by John Lyons' side.

However Des Lane's team fought back tenaciously in the second-half of what was a highly entertaining encounter played at a red-hot tempo. St Colmcille's also had full-back Jamie McDonnell sent off just before the end.

Barry Dardis fired over seven points for Summerhill all from frees while Larkin was also prominent on the scoring front. Sean Dalton also capped an all -action display with three points with Padraig Geraghty, Diarmuid McCabe and Paul Larkin others to fire over.

Conor O'Byrne (penalty) and Reilly grabbed a goal apiece for St Colmcille's in the opening half. Reilly found the net again after the break. James Conlon swung over a series of superb points but they were unable to catch a hungry looking Summerhill outfit.

The Skryne pitch was in excellent condition for this clash played before a big crowd.
