Over 40 Meath employers to present job opportunities at careers expo

The Meath Chambers Expo which takes place on Wednesday 2nd October in the Ardboyne Hotel Navan will provide hundreds of commuters with the opportunity to end the daily grind. A Meath County Council survey has found that, almost half (48%) of the Meath commuters working outside the county, say they are hitting the roads before 7am with a further quarter leaving before 7.30am daily.

Paula McCaul, CEO of County Meath Chamber, explained: “This is Meath's leading jobs and recruitment expo where over 40 key employers will be present and there will be 100s of job opportunities on offer to enable people stop the commute and live, work and grow in County Meath."

"While the Expo was originally designed to support our members in recruiting new staff it is clear from the survey results that the Meath Careers Expo is answering a pressing need from employees who want to work closer to home. It’s a win win for all and I’m proud that Meath Chamber are spearheading the initiative. Providing quality employment close to home delivers sustainable employment with enhanced quality of life for employees and their families."

"The Meath Commuter survey results to date show that over 85% of Meath residents said they were happy where they live but a staggering 90% are interested in working closer to home and more flexible working hours. As a commuter myself I am acutely aware that local business, family and personal lives can be adversely affected with so many people taking long commutes to and from work every day."

"Attending the County Meath Careers Expo on 2nd October in the Ardboyne Hotel Navan could be a life changing experience. Industries at the Expo include Science & Engineering, IT, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Biopharma, Pharma, Polymers, Construction, Sales & Marketing, Accounting & Finance, Tourism & Hospitality, Retail, Logistics and Recruitment. The Expo is not just for commuters but is also for anyone seeking a change of career. Admission is free - to register log on to www.countymeathchamber.ie. The Expo is a unique response to the needs of employers and employees and County Meath Chamber are delighted to spearhead this initiative.” Paula added.
