Campaign launched to promote online family supports schemes

A digital and social media campaign to promote an online application service for three schemes that support families with young children has been launched: 

The Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection, Regina Doherty, TD., recently launched the scheme for Maternity Benefit, Paternity Benefit, and the Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance (BTSCFA).

Customers can now apply for the BTSCFA online at, while the online application service has been available for Maternity and Paternity Benefits for some time. The campaign will feature digital advertisements on news and parenting websites and on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. The campaign for Maternity and Paternity Benefits will run until October and for BTSCFA until the end of August.

Following on from our promotional campaign for the updated portal earlier this year, it demonstrates our ongoing commitment to ensuring our customers are aware of the services which are available to them, and to making sure they can access these services in the most convenient way when they need them.”

With most children now on their summer holidays, time will be at a particular premium for many parents, so anything that makes things a bit easier is to be welcomed.”

This online application went live on Monday, 24 June, and already over 1,700 customers have chosen to apply for this scheme online.

Customers wishing to avail of the option to apply for these schemes online at need to have a Public Services Card and a verified MyGovID.  Those who do not have a Public Services Card can make an appointment at to get one.
