Kells woman owner of Jack the heroic dog

A Kells woman is the proud owner of Jack, the heroic dog whose story has gone viral this week.

Melanie Brennan is thrilled that her beloved rescue dog Jack has hit the headlines, and is relieved that her husband Pat is recovering after a nasty fall.

When Pat was walking his dog in Portarlington, Co Laois on Monday night, he stumbled and fell into a ditch.

Pat Brennan called the emergency services and Jack stayed by his side on the road.
In fact the Gardai say they wouldn't have found Pat, if hadn't been for Jack stoically waiting on the roadside.
"He wouldnt move until he was sure, Pat was safely in the ambulance," Melanie told Midlands 103.

A photo of Jack posted on the Laois /Offaly Garda Facebook page has since gone viral with receiving great praise for his loyalty.
Melanie is a native of Kells but lives with her husband in Portarlington.
