Aoife Scanlon is Meath 's representative in the 2019 Blue Jean Country Queen Festival organised by Meath Macra na Feirme.
The 22 “sound girls doing mad things” contesting the event will be arriving in Athboy, for this year's festival on Friday 31st May. Meath Macra na Feirme has planned a huge array of events to entertainment for the entire weekend, including a Street Fair, Bake Off, a family friendly Lark in the Park as well as weekend full of night time entertainment Entries this year come from Macra clubs all over the country as well Queens from Canada and France.
Aoife Scanlon and the other twenty one expected Queens will arrive in Athboy on Friday 2nd June. On Saturday Aoife Scanlon and her fellow Queens will take to the streets of Athboy during the Carnival. While on Sunday the Queens will change from fancy dress to modelling dress to formal dress all within twelve hours!
There will be a 'Fr Ted' theme night starting with the Pub Crawl at 9pm and culminating with Joe Fury & The Hayride in The CU Marquee on Saturday 1 stJune. While, Off The Wall will perform on Sunday 5th June. Both nights will also feature dancing in TABU Nightclub and Venue.
Aoife Scanlon herself is a year old member of Enfield Macra na Feirme and is a marketing executive. Her hobbies include Macra, Roadtrips to the beach and Zumba.
The weekend is mostly about having a bit of craic but Aoife and the other contestants will be competing for the Blue Jean Country Queen crown. First place receives prizes to the value of €1,000, from main sponsor Athboy Credit Union, and the title of Blue Jean Country Queen 2019. The runner-up will receive €500 from M&G Groundworks. Third prize winner will receive €250 from Hi-Spec Construction.
The winner of 2018 Blue Jean Country Queen title will be announced at midnight on Sunday 2nd June and will be crowned by reigning Queen, Alison O'Connor from Kerry.
