Dunboyne college to receive funding for 1,000 students

Minister of State for European Affairs Helen McEntee has announced that Dunboyne College of Further Education is to receive funding for 1,000 students from September 2019.

The CEO of Meath and Louth Education and Training Board, Martin O’Brien, confirmed the allocation to Ms McEntee, she stated.

"This is almost double the current resources they receive for students, staff and course," she continued. "This will mean over 25 new teachers, a new deputy principal position as well as assistant deputy positions. This is one of the most significant investments in education in Meath in recent years and will greatly strengthen the case I have been making for a new purpose build building as set out in the Government’s Capital plan."

“It is great to see the resources increased now to match the growing student numbers and the overall success of the college in Dunboyne.  This especially good news against the recent investments by Shire, Facebook and Avoca into this region.  I strongly feel Dunboyne College can serve as a magnet for more such investment into Meath creating more local jobs for our region.  Well done to the staff and boards of the ETB and the College for achieving this major win for Meath,” concluded Minister McEntee.
