Lucky local kids to light up Late Late Toy Show

Three Meath children will have an opportunity most children can only ever dream of when they perform on the Late Late Toy Show tonight.

Brother and sister Lucy (11) and Tomás O'Neill (9) from Kilcloon and Eve Stears (10) from Ratoath impressed judges at their auditions to secure a coveted slot on the show, though details of the performances are strictly under wraps.
Lucy is a sixth class pupil in Kilcloon NS while brother Tomás is in 3rd class. Lucy has a lot of acting experience behind her and when she was younger attended the Billie Barry Stage School. She has been in 'Once' in the Olympia, 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' in the Bord Gais, 'Annie' and 'Oliver' in the National Concert Hall, 'The Wizard of Oz' and has also appeared in television commercials. Her mum Aine said Lucy loves performing on stage, particularly acting, but is a good little singer as well. Tomás plays guitar and he has also been in a few commercials. On Friday night, Lucy will sing and Tomás will play guitar as part of a bigger group of children.
They have been busy rehearsing in recent weeks and Aine said they were thrilled to be chosen from the auditions and are really looking forward to performing. Aine will most likely go with them while dad Keith and brother Louis (5) will be watching at home.
Also securing a coveted spot on the show, Eve Stears is a fifth class pupil in Ratoath NS and is no stranger to the stage. She was a finalist in this year's All-Ireland Teen Star competition where she came fourth out of the 40 children in the final. She is also involved in Ratoath Musical society and 'Addicted to Dance' in Ratoath. Eve was invited to sing at the Dunshaughlin Christmas Fair last Sunday.
Her mum Sharon told how Eve loves to sing and top of her Santa list this year is a microphone and stand. She recently started singing lessons with Keila Whelan who is performing as Snow White in the Cheerios Pantomime.
Sharon filled out the application form for the Toy Show and sent off a USB with footage of her performance in the teen star final.
“I didn't think any more about it, thousands go for the Toy Show and thought we probably wouldn't hear anything,” recalled Sharon but a few weeks later they got a call from RTE asking Eve to come for an audition. “Then we got a call a few days later saying they loved Eve and would love her to be on the toy show.
“I went home and told Eve I was bringing her out to lunch that I had some news. She was delighted when I told her.”
Only one chaperone is allowed to go with Eve so mum Sharon is heading along, while dad Fintan and older brothers Dylan (16) and Cillian (15) will be watching at home.
