Giedre Raquckaite who was last seen on 29th May

House in Laytown examined in investigation into disappearance of Giedre Raguckaite

A house in Laytown is currently being examined by the Garda Technical Bureau as part of the investigation into the disappearance of 29-year-old Lithuanian woman Giedre Raguckaite, who has been missing since May.

Last week Gardai upgraded their missing person investigation to a murder inquiry. It has been established that Giedre, whose last known residence was in Dundalk, was last seen at a house in the Laytown area on 29th May.

Giedre came to Ireland from the UK in April 2018 and lived in a number of properties between April and May 2018, the last known residence being at College Heights, Dundalk, Co Louth.  She moved out of that property on 23rd May 2018 and it is not yet known where she lived after that.

The last confirmed contact with Giedre was with her father by phone at 6.35pm (Irish Time) on the 29th May 2018. A Family Liaison Officer has been appointed and is in constant contact with the Giedre’s family.
On 22nd August 2018, a Lithuanian National who resides in Dundalk reported Giedre missing to the Dundalk Gardaí.

A missing person investigation commenced under the supervision of Detective Inspector Martin Beggy from the incident room in Dundalk and it is now established that she was last seen at a house in the Laytown area with two men on 29th May 2018 at about 11pm.

Gardaí have established that Giedre’s phone has not been in use since the morning of the 30th May 2018, nor has there has been any activity on Giedre’s social media accounts or contact with any family or friends.  Gardaí have carried out over 170 lines of enquiry, including liaising with the PSNI, UK Police Forces, Interpol, the Lithuanian Police Force and the Lithuanian Embassy.  As a result of those enquiries, it was decided on the 31st October 2018 to re-categorise this investigation as a homicide investigation.

Giedre is described as 1.67 Meters in height, thin build, 8/9 stone, shoulder length blonde hair, green eyes and was last seen wearing pink Tee-shirt and dark blue jeans.
Gardai are seeking assistance from the public and especially the Lithuanian Community to ascertain details of;

1)    Any person who provided accommodation temporary or otherwise for Giedre since 23/5/18 no matter how short the stay.

2)    Anyone who has seen Giedre on or since the 29/5/18.

3)    Anyone who is in possession of any information surrounding Giedre’s disappearance on 29th May 2018.
