Tolan to contest FG selection convention for Louth

Laytown-Bettystown based Meath Councillor, Sharon Tolan, will be contesting the Fine Gael General Election Selection Convention for Louth, which takes place this coming Thursday 27th September at 8pm in the Crown Plaza Hotel, Dundalk.  Cllr Tolan who was first elected to Meath County Council in the Local Election of 2014, was one of few Fine Gael candidates to poll extremely well on what was a difficult election for the Fine Gael Party.

In total, 7 candidates will be contesting the convention, although it is expected that some may withdraw on the night.

“I think it’s important that the party go for a three candidate strategy in the next General Election, whenever that may be,” said Tolan. “With the growing population in East Meath, an East Meath candidate shouldn’t be underestimated or discounted.  I’m honoured to have been nominated, and to have represented Fine Gael for the past five years.  I would like to do that on a national level now.  I’m looking forward to Thursday night.  There is such a high standard of excellent candidates, and the party should be proud to have so many talented councillors who are eager to progress to the next level in politics.”
