Midsummer walkers generate large sum of money

On a hot day last June a large contingent of walkers set out from Tara. Some were on their way to Newgrange, some were headed for the Ramparts in Navan where they followed a track alongside the Boyne to Slane.

Whatever route they took all the walkers braved the extremely hot conditions to do their bit to fight the scourge of homelessness and raise funds for the Peter McVerry Trust.

They efforts were royally rewarded with a large amount of funds generated.  This week one of the the chief organisers of the 'Midsummer Walk' - Dr Conor Irwin - presented Caroline Flynn, Events Fundraising Manager with the  Peter McVerry Trust with a handsome sum of money.

"We were delighted to hand over €17,400 to PMV after our Midsummer Walk in June this year. It was a great success and we had 180 walkers taking part," commented.

"Many thanks for all those who supported the event. Your support is much appreciated . We have already pencilled in 22nd  June next year and are ready to do it all again!" he added.
