Noel King

Headfort gig staged to remember the late, great Noel King

'Blowin' In the Wind,' 'Like a Rolling Stone', 'The Times They Are a-Changin' ' are just some of the classic songs Bob Dylan wrote.

Many of the tunes the great American songwriter penned will feature in a truly exceptional night of entertainment that's promised in the Headfort Hotel on Friday 21st September.

'A Night To Remember Noel King' will be staged to mark the life and times of the late, great Noel King, a much loved musician from the Ballinlough, Carnaross area.

Noel, who passed away last January, loved his music and played in a variety of bands including 'King and I' ( a two piece band with his great friend Ollie Clarke from Kentstown with the two playing gigs throughout Ireland and parts of Europe). Noel also played with another band called 'Klutch' and before that 'Paddy's Return' a ballad group that toured Ireland.

Noel was widely recognised as an extremely talented acoustic guitar player and was also highly accomplished on bass in the various bands he played in including the Bob Dylan tribute band Rolling Thunder fronted by Ollie Clarke, who has attended over 50 Bob Dylan concerts. "He was a great musician and a true friend something that should be treasured in life," said Ollie.

The music on Friday 21st September will be provided by Noel's brother Timmy King and Rolling Thunder which features Noel's nephew on bass, Joe King.

Doors open for the 'A Night to Remember Noel King' at 8pm, show starts 9pm. Tickets 15 euro from Headfort Arms. It should be a night to remember.
