Navan's only cinema is to close after 20 years - but only for refurbishments.

The Arc Cinema is set to replace the existing Diamond Digital Cinema site on Kennedy Road which will close in the coming weeks, for major improvement works.

Owners of the new cinema hope to open in the winter with extra-large luxurious VIP style leather seats for maximum comfort with stadium style tiers for a perfect view from every seat.

All screens will use the latest technology with crystal-clear digital projection, 3D and high frame rate capability, extra large screens and powerful Dolby Digital 7.1 surround sound for the 'ultimate film enjoyment,' according to the owners.

The Arc Cinemas are already in operation in Wexford and Drogheda.

"Our cinemas have become known for their large leather seats which provide the ultimate in luxury VIP comfort, friendly relaxed service from a dedicated team of movie lovers, plus our great value deals on family tickets and on Crazy Tuesday," said Shane Faulkner, the Arc Cinema's Regional Manager.

"We work hard to provide the best for our customers and we are hugely excited to be able to bring our experience to movie lovers in Navan later this year."
