Kingscourt man campaigning on medical cannabis

A Kingscourt man has been active behind the scenes in helping Billy Caldwell,  the Tyrone boy whose medicinal cannabis was seized at Heathrow airport.
Kristofer Sheckleton, a Fianna Fail activist in the Kingscourt area, has been campaigning on the medicinal cannabis issue for over 18 months and has helped Billy and his mother over the last difficult week.
Billy  was taken to hospital last week in a life-threatening condition following the confiscation of his medical cannabis, which contains THC. He suffers from epilepsy and at times had up to 100 seizures a day, but had been 300 days seizure free when his medicine was confiscated. The seizures resumed when he stopped the drug.
Following his admission to hospital, the Btritish  Home Office granted a 20-day licence for the use of the banned substance.

On Tuesday, the British home secretary said the use of medicinal cannabis was to be reviewed, which could lead to more prescriptions of drugs made from the plant.
Kristofer is part of a campaign to introduce 'Billy's Law' both in Ireland and Britain which would allow for the use of the drug Billy needs.
