Pilgrim St's 2019 tour opens in Solstice at weekend

Meath based bluegrass folksters Pilgrim St are gearing up for their annual concert at Navan’s Solstice Arts Centre on Saturday night.
The evening of melody and song has become an annual event for the band in recent years. From the birth of the group around five years ago in Beggys’ Bar they have gone from strength to strength of late selling out theatres all around Ireland. Their bold mix of old classic folk songs coupled with a fresh approach to songwriting has kept their audience coming back each year for more. In 2018 the lads toured all around Ireland and gained regular airplay on regional radio stations, as well as getting play listed on the BBC for the first time.

Saturday June 15th will be the opening night of Pilgrim St’s 2019 tour. The upcoming tour will take the seven-piece band to towns and venues all over Ireland. It will run from June till December and will also include dates in Great Britain for the first time. The band will be releasing their long awaited first album in September. It is a collection of brand new songs and was recorded at Crooked-Wood Studios in Slane under the stewardship of Mark Cahill. The band will self-produce the record with the help of Mark Cahill and Oisin Leech and will release it independently in autumn.
This years show at the Solstice is on course to sell out for first time with tickets moving fast. The band has put together a new show for 2019. The set-list will include old-time classics and new songs along with instrumental pieces and the usual foot stompers. The special guests on the night will be Kern, a contemporary folk band from County Louth, made up of Brendan McCreanor (uilleann pipes), SJ McArdle (voice and guitar) and Barry Kieran (fiddle). The band has released a debut album, False Deceiver, produced by Trevor Hutchinson (Lúnasa, The Waterboys). It is a mix of songs and tunes from the band’s home County of Louth along with original material and has already garnered significant national airplay in Ireland. They are releasing their second album in September.
