Derek Stapleton & Aisling Moore getting into the spirit for the Evolution of Irish Whiskey tasting night in The Central on Thursday 18 April.

Whiskey Central!

Thursday 18th April will see Ireland's largest whiskey producer, Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard talk about 'The Evolution of Irish Whiskey' in Navan.  The Central Bar will host the evening which will feature select Irish whiskies, food pairings and tastings.

"We are experiencing a renaissance or second coming of Irish whiskey both in Ireland and globally," says  Dessie Woods, Irish Whiskey ambassador with IDL Pernod Ricard.

"Irish whiskey is growing massively and when a category grows this fast it fragments and premiumises; people want to try many different brands and more brand variations."

"As Irish palates become more adventurous and awareness and interest in artisan pairings of local food produce with spirits, beer and wine continues to increase we are delighted to host this talk and tasting," commented head chef, Carl Rennicks. "Our chefs have enjoyed creating dishes and working with the various premium Irish whiskeys to create interesting pairing dishes such as whiskey soaked brie in a box and Irish whiskey ribs."

Central Bar Manager Mick Nolan further commented: " We always try and embrace new trends and it is great to see an Irish company like Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard doing such cutting edge development work.  Irish whiskey and whiskey cocktails are becoming increasingly popular with customers and with an Irish Whiskey Museum in Dublin and events such as an Irish Whiskey Festival, this trend looks set to continue."

The fee is €15 to attend this fun and informative evening which includes samples of top whiskeys such as Yellow Spot Special Reserve, Jameson Caskmates IPA, Green Spot and Jameson Black Barrel as well as a selection of light bites to complement the whiskey.  To book call The Central on 046 9027999, info@thecentral.ie or just drop in.
