Insideawave won the Nova Discovered competition run by Radio Nova.

Indie rock band making a wave

Insideawave, a five-piece indie rock band, recently won the Nova Discovered competition run by Radio Nova, the biggest search for unsigned talent in Ireland. Made up of Mark Geraghty, Eoghan McGuinness, Sean O'Brien, Matt Winston and Nick Fitzgerald, they have been playing with each other for just over a year and have released four songs to date which can be found on all major streaming sites - 'Enough', 'Estuary', 'Matchsticks' and 'Nick Francisco' the latter two just released last month.
Mark, Eoghan, Sean and Matt are all originally from Navan and met while attending St Patrick's Classical School. They return to Navan with a gig in P Clarke's of Bridge Street this Saturday night, 10th November.
Nova Discovered was sponsored by Mini. Over 400 acts entered an original song. Mark Geraghty explains: “We entered our debut single, 'Enough' and were picked along with seven other bands to perform in a semi-final on 7th June in Tramline in Dublin. We were then selected to play in the final on 21st June in the same venue against three other acts. A panel of judges that included Peter Devlin form The Devlins, Niamh Farrell from Ham Sandwich and Gavin Glass selected us as winners. The prize was a €30,000 package that includes a week's recording in top Dublin studio, Orphan Studios, a €10,000 advertising campaign on Radio Nova, and music equipment. We'll also be given a manager and publicist for two months and Nova will press and release a single for us and add it to their radio playlist for a year.” And where did the band's name come from? “It was inspired by a collection of poetry by Helen Dunmore called 'Inside the Wave',” Mark says. “We spent a while trying to find a name that resonated with the five of us and that one seemed like a natural fit.”

The band is in currently in Orphan Recording Studio in Dublin working with producer Gavin Glass recording some songs to release over the next few months.
