Midsummer classics from the Accora Orchestra

In advance of performances in France, the Accora Orchestras with special guests appear in the Ramor Theatre, Virginia, this weekend. Formerly Castletown Accordion Orchestra, this is its third annual Mid Summer Classical Concert and promises an evening of French and Irish Classical and popular music. Special guests include Ciarán Hayes (bassoon), Holly Chilton (oboe), soprano Hannah O'Brien who are all from the Royal Irish Academy of Music and St. Kilian's Choir, Mullagh, directed by Breeda Kenny.
The Accora Orchestra is based in Mullagh, and has four orchestras with musicians ranging in age from five years to adult.  They have performed in Scotland, England, Spain, Italy,  Czech Republic and Austria taking part in various festivals. To date their most impressive achievements have been winning the International Accordion Days in Prague Festival at two levels -  Under 19 Orchestra and the Light Music Section in November of 2016, Winning the European Accordion Championships in April 2006 and in 2007 they travelled to Innsbruck, Austria, where the Senior Orchestra were placed second out of 30 and the Junior Orchestra were placed third out of 11 at the World Accordion Championships.
At the Mid Summer Classical Concert in the Ramor Theatre two of their Orchestras will perform; Accora Senior Orchestra led by musical director John Chilton and their Youth Orchestra led by Sara Brennan.
