Snow blankets part of county
Parts of County Meath have been blanketed in snow this morning as an Arctic blast sends temperatures plummeting to below zero.
Parts of north Meath, around Kells and Drumconrath, awoke to several centimetres of snow on the ground this morning, but other areas of the county escaped completely. Navan also saw a heavy snow showers in the past hour.
Met Eireann has said the showers of sleet and snow are drifting in over the Meath area on biting north-easterly winds that will turn more northerly later this evening. Temperatures will remain below zero for much of today and more snow showers can be expected in blustery winds.
Treacherous road conditions were the cause of several accidents this morning, including on the M4 near Enfield where several incidents were reported.
