Clogherboy puts best foot forward again for Feile na bPáistí event
There was a fabulous carnival atmosphere in the Clogherboy area of Navan on Saturday 31st July for the annual Féile na bPáistí Festival, which once again was a resounding success and a wonderful community event. The sun almost shone in the Clogherboy estates, on the residents and Navan Community Development Project Ltd as young and old celebrated in the carnival atmosphere. The children were beautifully adorned with their faces painted as they marvelled at the magic produced by Colin Walker in his show, which included bunnies escaping out of hats to the children's delight. Navan Fire Service and River Rescue were present with their exciting displays and younger residents got the opportunity to participate in an art competition and collected prizes for their efforts. While the women were showing the men up with their own penalty shootout, the men were wondering why a fuss is made of housework as they tried their hands at hanging clothes on the line in the fastest time. Children got the chance to display their own football skills with their penalty shootout and the five-a-side soccer brought the local talent out into the public arena. Thanks were extended to Parkvilla FC for looking after the football events for the organisers on the day. By evening, the 'Ur a Star Competition' was in full swing and, with many performing acts, even Simon Cowell would have difficulty deciding who to pick as winners. Navan Feile na nPaisti would not have happened without the dedication of the Feile committee who worked hard putting the activities of the day together. People worked hard on making Clogherboy a place well worth a visit with their gardens and green areas in immaculate condition. Considerable fundraising was necessary to make the event the success that it was and Navan CDP has thanked the following for once again investing in the local community at this financially challenging time: Navan Town Council., Tara Mines, Eason, Respond, Supermac's and O'Flaherty's. Clogherboy was awash with music, colour and laughter throughout the day and the residents of the Clogherboy area can be proud of the results that saw an excellent day out for all concerned.
