Go Native fatal injury

There was huge shock and disappointment for Castletown trainer Noel Meade today when Go Native sustained a broken leg while cantering this morning. Go Native had only returned to the racecourse last month after a long lay-off following an injury in the 2011 Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham. After 18 months recovering Meade got Go Native back in the winners' enclosure at Galway in a flat race last month. Last Sunday at Punchestown Go Native was in the process of giving Hurricane Fly a scare when falling at the final flight in the Morgiana Hurdle "We are all in a state of shock at the moment, he was just doing a very steady canter. I was about 100 yards away from him and all of a sudden I heard this almighty crack, it's a cruel blow for his owners and everyone in the yard," said the trainer.
