Meath LGFA championship draw confirmed
The 2024 SFC champions Dunshaughlin will have been drawn alongside league champions Navan O'Mahonys
The draws have been made for the Meath LGFA Senior, Intermediate and various Junior championships.
There are 72 teams in this year’s championship, the biggest number ever with several clubs entering 2nd and 3rd teams for the first time.
In the Senior Championship reigning champions Dunshaughlin Royal Gaels are drawn in Group B with Division 1 League Champions Navan O’Mahonys, Na Fianna and Seneschalstown. Group A contains Newly promoted Dee Rangers, St Peters Dunboyne, Oldcastle and Donaghmore Ashbourne. Donaghmore Ashbourne and St Peters Dunboyne met in the group stage last year with the Dunboyne side showing no mercy on the Ashbourne girls.
Group B pits Navan O’Mahonys v the champions Dunshaughlin Royal Gaels in the first round with their Division 1 League Final win over the Gaels fresh in their memory. Seneschalstown and Na Fianna with be hoping to improve on last years showing as they were beaten in the quarter finals by Navan O’Mahonys and Donaghmore Ashbourne respectively.
Winners of each group get an automatic home semi-final slot with 2nd in each group playing 3rd in the opposite group for each remaining semi-final spot.
The Intermediate Championship last year produced some of the most exciting football and results in the championship. Group A has Summerhill, beaten finalists last year Walterstown, Ratoath and St Micheals. All know each other well at this stage. Group B has Simonstown, Skryne, St Ultans and newly promoted Boardsmill
