Books of condolences open to remember Cllr Damien O'Reilly
Cathaoirleach Councillor Tommy Reilly and Chief Executive, Fiona Lawless today opened a book of condolence for friend and colleague, Cllr Damien O’Reilly.
The Fianna Fáil councillor, who was 40, took ill while driving and passed away on Saturday morning.
In a joint statement, Meath Co Council Cathaoirleach Cllr Tommy Reilly and Meath Co Council Chief Executive, Fiona Lawess paid tribute to Cllr O'Reilly describing him as “one of the most hard-working councillors in the country.”
"Damien was a highly respected and valued member of Meath County Council. He was very committed in his role as a Councillor and provided an outstanding service to the citizens of County Meath. Damien was deeply honored in June of this year, when he was again elected Cathaoirleach of Ratoath Municipal District.
"Damien was devoted to his family, and our thoughts and prayers are with his partner Lisa, his children Carlie and Kyle, his mother Phil, and his wider circle of friends and colleagues at this sad time.
