Motorcyclist in his 50s dies after collision with car at Ross Cross

Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision between a car and a motorcycle that occurred at Ross Cross, Tara, this evening (Sunday) around 6.15pm.

The male motorcyclist, aged in his 50s, who was travelling on the Dublin-Navan Road, was seriously injured and removed from the scene to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown where he later passed away. A post mortem will take place.

The male driver of the car which was travelling from Dunsany, aged in his 20s, was uninjured. A male and female passenger of the car were also uninjured.

The road is currently closed pending an examination by forensic collision investigators. Local diversions are in place, with traffic being diverted across Skryne.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 6pm and 6.45pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.

A single vehicle fatal road traffic collision occurred at 11:30pm on Thursday last at Prioryland, Duleek, when the occupant of a car, a man in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
