Drier, milder weather on the way from Sunday

Mostly cloudy today with outbreaks of rain along with areas of mist and drizzle. The best chance for prolonged dry spells will be across Munster through this afternoon and evening but there will be showers there also. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees with moderate northwest breezes developing, fresh in the south and west.

Damp and rather misty across the country overnight with outbreaks of rain in many northern and eastern counties and with the possibility of spot flooding. Clear spells will develop at times in the south and west but showers will occur there also, some heavy and prolonged. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees in mainly moderate northwest breezes.

Another mostly cloudy day on Saturday with scattered falls of rain and drizzle across the north and east along with the possibility of spot flooding. Drier and brighter spells are expected at times in the south and west with scattered showers. Maximum temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in a moderate northerly breeze.

Patchy rain or drizzle will tend to ease on Saturday night as most places become dry. Turning rather cold as skies begin to clear with lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees with light variable winds.

Becoming mostly dry for a time, but rain and showers are expected in places next week.

It is expected to be mostly dry on Sunday with a mix of cloud and some bright or sunny spells. There is just the slight chance of the odd light shower. Top temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees with a light southerly breeze developing. It looks set to be dry on Sunday night with varying amounts of cloud. A fairly cold night with lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees, coldest in the north and east of the country.

Monday will start dry for much of the country with some morning sunshine. However, cloud is expected to build from the west during the day with rain likely to develop across the western half of the country during the afternoon or evening. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees with freshening southerly winds. Patchy rain will extend across the country on Monday night with a blustery southerly wind. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees.

It looks set to be mild and breezy on Tuesday with scattered outbreaks of rain. The best chance for dry and bright spells will be in the south of the country. Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees in fresh and gusty southwest winds.
