Meath woman claims €500k Euromillions prize

While there was no winner of last Friday’s 3rd March €130 million EuroMillions jackpot, Ireland’s biggest winner of the night came forward today to claim a €500,000 top prize in the EuroMillions Plus game.

The Co. Meath winner who claimed her €500,000 EuroMillions prize admitted that, while she is a regular lottery player, she only started playing online having downloaded the National Lottery App on the day of the draw. She said:

“This feels like a dream I haven’t woken up from yet! I honestly can’t believe it. I only singed up to the National Lottery app last week and bought a single line worth €3.50!

“I checked the app that night and thought that I won €50,000, so I ran down to one of my family members who was fast asleep in their bed, shook them and said, I think I’ve won a few bob.

“So they checked my phone for me, sat up bolt straight in the bed and screamed, you’re after winning €500,000! Well, there was cheering, dancing and crying, the whole lot. It really was a magic moment we’ll never forget”

The sole winner of the ticket, who wishes to remain private, started shaking when they received their cheque worth half a million euro in Lottery HQ today. “My eyes are gone dizzy, I still can’t compute seeing those numbers, she laughed. I’ve no big plans yet for the money, I’m still letting it sink in but definitely a family holiday and some home improvements on the cards”.

With Tuesday night’s (7th March) EuroMillions jackpot rolling towards a whopping €145 million, players in Ireland will dream of following in the footsteps of EuroMillions royalty to become one of the largest winners in Ireland in the history of the EuroMillions game.
