Tolan calls for removal of old signs blighting local roads

A local councillor has called for road signage some of which are more than 15 years out of date to be removed from local roads.

Local Fine Gael Councillor Sharon Tolan has called on Meath County Council to audit and remove all out of date road signage highlighting funding for infrastructural projects.

Tolan raised the issue at the monthly meeting of the Laytown-Bettystown Municipal District where the Area Engineer agreed the issue needed to be addressed.

"These signs are literally decades out of date and serve no purpose whatsoever. We are spending a considerable amount of taxpayers money on wonderful Public Realm Plans across the county of Meath and all the while these signs are a blight on our local environment and are nothing but litter. It is high time we addressed this and removed those that are no longer required."
