Meath players celebrate after defeating Donegal in the NFL Div 1 final last April.

Meath sure to clock up plenty of miles in league campaign

There's something about a Meath, Dublin rivalry to stir up emotions and the two counties meet in the opening round of the Lidl Ladies NFL Div 1 in the new year.

Meath will be looking to get the defence of their crown off to a winning start but they will have to overcome their keen rivals to do so when the new 2023 campaign gets underway.

Div 1 of the competition also contains Cork, 2022 runners-up Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Waterford and newly-promoted Kerry.

It promises to be a real adventure for David Nelson and his players especially if they can chalk up a victory over the Sky Blues who they play away from home.

Not that playing away from Pairc Tailteann will be unusual for Meath - most of their games are on the road, starting with the Dubs.

In their second match in the next league campaign Meath also play an away game against Donegal. They are also away to Galway in their third outing ensurng it will be a demanding start for Nelson's troops.

Their first home match is against Mayo on the 19th February.

In all Meath have five away games and only two home games. The location of fixtures is based on where any two teams involved played their previous game.
