Kilcarn accident victim named

The woman who died after being hit by a car in Navan on Wednesday afternoon has been named as Dolores O'Reilly, a resident of Kilcarn Court.

Mrs O Reilly has been described as a gentle soul, a lovely woman and a kind neighbour by shocked local residents.

Originally an O'Donoghue of Hospital, Co Limerick, she had lived in Kilcarn Court for many years.

She was predeceased by her husband, Brian, who was originally from Castlebar, Co Mayo.

Dolores is survived by her son, Paul, daughters Mary, Sarah and Anne, brother Jimmy (Hospital), grandchildren Kyle, Finley and Senan, sons-in-law Lee and Cian, Paul’s partner Katia, sister-in-law Catherine, nieces, nephews, relatives and a large circle of friends.

Her remains will be reposing at St Joseph’s Chapel of Rest, Old Johnstown, Navan on Monday from 3pm with removal at 5.45pm to arrive at St Mary’s Church, Navan for 6.30pm. Her Funeral Mass wil take place on Tuesday at 10am , with burial afterwards in St Finian’s Cemetery.

The accident happened at 1.25pm on Wednesday at the entrance to the Kilcarn Court estate in Navan. She was pronounced dead at the scene and no other injuries were reported.The entrance to Kilcarn Court was sealed off for a time to allow for a technical examination of the scene to take place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward, particularly any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the Kilcarn Court area between 1pm and 1.45pm on Wednesday afternoon.
