Power outages affecting 1,300 homes in Meath

More than 1,300 homes in Meath are without electricity this morning as strong winds and heavy rain batter the county.

Two major ESB network faults have been reported- one in Navan and one in Julianstown- affecting more than 1,300 homes.

A fault at Abbeylands, Navan, has seen power lost to 646 homes, with an estimated reconnection time of 1pm. A further 670 homes are affected by the fault at Julianstown with power expected to be restored at 1.45pm.

A status yellow rain and wind warning is in place for six counties along with west coast including Clare, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo until 2pm this afternoon.

According to Met Eireann, nationally, it will be wet and windy with widespread heavy rain and squally downpours, leading to a risk of spot flooding and dangerous road conditions.
