Coffee dock and tourist info kiosk plan for Kennedy Road

Plans for a kiosk, a tourist information point, toilets for bus drivers and a coffee dock close to the new bus stops on Kennedy Road were outlined at a meeting of Navan Municipal Council last week.

Councillors heard the building will be metal with a glazed facade and will measure 10.5 metres by 6.5 metres.

The facilities will include toilets primarily for use by bus drivers, a public area as well as a tourist information area and a possible coffee dock.

The structure has to go through the planning process but is likely to be completed by the third quarter of next year. Clr Tommy Reilly said he was delighted to hear it would have a tourist information point, and asked if there would be public toilets.

He was told that they would be primarily for drivers and he said public toilets could cause problems there.

"If there is a coffee dock, we would have to provie public toilets," he said, but was told the coffee dock proposal was still under consideration.

The kiosk will be located adjacent to the new bus stops currently under construction on Kennedy Road.

Work on new retaining walls at Kennedy Place in Navan are ongoing as part of the Navan 2030 scheme. The construction of a new pavement and part of the new bus interchange at Navan Town Centre is currently underway on Kennedy Road, from the Paddy O’Brien Street junction to the Shopping Centre car park exit adjacent to the Post Office .

The Kennedy Road taxi rank has been relocated to Abbey Road.
