Culture Night events take place around Meath

A series of events will take place around Meath to mark Culture night, which takes place on Friday 23rd of September.

Culture Night is a free national, annual celebration of culture, creativity and the arts delivered by venues across the island of Ireland and is held on the third Friday of September every year.

Kells

What: Testimonies

Work inspired by true testimonies from the events of 1916 – 1923 created by award-winning playwright Deirdre Kinahan, historian, writer and broadcaster Myles Dungan and award-winning singer-songwriter Michael Brunnock with Special guest James Mahon(Kila) on Uilleann pipes.

An evening of theatre, music and song followed by a post-show Q&A with the artists.

Kells Arts Club host an evening of music, dance and spoken word s a range of performers drawn from the rich cultural diversity of Kells heritage town

Dunshaughlin

What: Concert in the Park

A night of music and dance, a rural celebration. The line up of performers includes Niamh Collins, singer; Stuart Gray, musician; Kathy Crinion, singer; Taking Back Friday, band; Local dance school students and more.

Where: The Park, The Park, Knocks, Dunshaughlin.

Navan

What: Creative Corner

Explore the works of Lucy Mc Kenna in the gallery and create your own artwork together from a selection of colourful materials such as paper, plastics and fabric. Suitable for families (parental supervision required).

Where: Solstice Arts Centre, Railway Street, Dillonsland, Navan.

When: 6pm.

What: Live Kurdish and Irish Music

A mix of live, acoustic music in the gallery. Compare the emotional Kurdish sounds of the bouzouki, played by Kurdish-Syrian musician Mohommad Hasan, with a range of traditional Irish instruments played by local musician Ruairi Somers and guest. This coming together of musical traditions will arouse emotions and introduce the ear to sounds from near and far.
