Sweet victory for 'Villa in goal-fest

There were goals galore in Poppintree Park in Dublin as Parkvilla defeated AUL side Buttercrust United 5-4 in the Leinster Junior Cup with Tristan O'Neill getting his team's fifth and decisive goal in the closing stages.

The home side scored four which would normally be enough to win most games but there was no stopping the Navan side who had their radars switched on as they marched to victory.

Ben Gibney scored twice early on to put the Navan side ahead. Buttercrust United drew level with two goals of their own and that's the way it stayed until the break.

Shortly after half-time Conor Fleming found the net to put Parkvilla ahead again as the topsy-turvy nature of the game continued. However, the home side drew level once more as the excitement levels were ramped up. Not only that they bagged another goal to go ahead for the first time.

It wasn't looking good for the 'Villa. However with just five minutes left a Sean Lally Lally corner was headed to the net by Tristan O’Neill.

Extra time appeared to be on the cards but a brilliant ball from Jamie Blake put O’Neill in for goal number five.

With literly seconds left Parkvilla netminder Conor Rattigan pulled off a brilliant save to send his side through to the next round.

Best for the winners were Ross Quigley, Gary Gibney, Danny Doggett and Ethan Rathbone.
