Trim area heroes honoured at reception

The Municipal District Civic Awards held in Buvinda House, celebrated an abundance of artistic and sporting talent as well as immense volunteerism and community spirit in the county.

Cllr Aisling Dempsey said she was honoured to see her nominees from the Trim Municipal District awarded on the night: Coolronan Dog Rescue; Enfield Development Group; and Eugene and Luba Healy.

She said: "Coolronan Dog Rescue have, as previously reported by Meath Chronicle, had to close their doors temporarily given the very unfortunate increase in levels of dogs abandoned.

"Enfield Development Group is ingrained in the community of Enfield and works tirelessly to improve the facilities and amenities in the town. The fact that the old ESB building is currently being converted into a community hub is in no small part thanks to EDG. EDG's Covid activities such as bingo were a lifeline for many."

She added that there was a very emotional moment when Cllr Joe Fox presented an award to Eugene and Luba Healy. "The Healys are well known as great community people. Most recently their excellent and tireless work to aid Luba's home country of Ukraine deserve all our thanks and praise."

Trim GAA and all their recent wonderful achievements were also honoured on the night.
