Primary Schools Finals: Goals boost Bohermeen to victory

When any team gets four goals in a game it's very difficult to stop them winning. When they add 15 points to their tally they really are on the road to success - and that certainly proved to be the case for Bohermeen NS in the Boys Div 2 final at Pairc Tailteann on Friday as they won 4-15 to 2-5.

Cheered on by their following Bohermeen (guided by coaches James Brennan and Mary Coyne) put an early stamp on this game. With the help of goals from Conn Brennan (who ended with an impressive 1-6) and Rhys Callan they led 2-8 to 0-2 at the interval and pushed on relentlessly from there.

They put the finishing touches on this scintillating, performance with not one but two high quality goals bagged early in the second-half, one scored by Aaron Reilly and other by Rhys Callan who teased and tormented the opposition backline all game. They were super scores, the culmination of fast-paced attacking moves.

It says a lot about the attacking ability of the Bohermeen team that seven of their personnel got on the scoresheet, including Brennan, Callan, Thomas Proudfoot, Patrick Smyth, Patrick Travers, Reilly and Dylan O'Mara.

Skryne, coached by former Meath footballer Mickey Newman and Tom Brennan, never gave up, of course, but they found it difficult to find a way through the well-organised Bohermeen battlements. Finn Naughton moved from midfield to full-forward and fashioned two goals while Jimmy Shorten and Oisin Giles also tagged on points. However, there was simply no stopping the Bohermeen contingent as they marched to victory
