Lost Shetland pony reunited with owner

Gardaí at Carrickmacross were delighted to reunite the pony with its owner

A stray Shetland pony that caused “havoc” with morning traffic in Carrickmacross has been reunited with its owner.

The horse was found wandering on Main Street earlier to day and taken into “custody” by local officers concerned for the animal's safety.

A social media appeal ensued, and an update was posted in later morning to say that the horse had since been returned.

“The Gardaí at Carrickmacross were delighted to reunite this wee fella with his owner,” they said.

A spokesperson added: “We would like to thank all the members of the public who shared the posts and especially those who offered to bring food in and even transport and provide temporary more suitable accommodation to our visitor.”
