Slane family's search for missing peacock, Winston!

A Slane family are seeking the public's help in reuniting them with their young pet peacock they hatched from an incubator.

According to worried owner Verena Stapleton, Winston got spooked by foxes roaming the nearby field behind their house in Graigs Lane and he took took off yesterday.

"He left the Graigs Lane area and was last seen near Dunmoe Castle yesterday evening (16th January). Searches this morning were unsuccessful and no sightings since."

"He's only six months old, we hatched him in an incubator. He is free ranging and went into his house every evening at dusk. He has never left our site until yesterday."

As a chick Winston used to sit on Verena's husband Richard's shoulder and watch TV with the family including children Faye (3) and Leigh (5) who are missing their little feathered friend dreadfully.

"His wings arent clipped, we didn't want to do that. He is cautious of strangers but will respond to us. Neighbours and local farmers have all been notified. If anyone sees him get in touch."

"We've reported him as missing with the ISPCA too."
