Dale and Lucie Larkin

VIDEO: Siblings off the mark in first of 15 5km runs in memory of their mother

Today marks the 15th anniversary of the passing of Dale and Lucie Larkin's adored mother Maura to cancer.

To raise money for two charities that are very close to their hearts- St Lukes Hospital and SOSAD- the inspirational brother and sister have taken on a gruelling challenge to run 15 five-kilometre walks in just 48 hours in memory of their mother.

Their first run kicked off at 5pm in Nobber this evening from the cemetery where their mother Maura is buried. Dale and Lucie laid wreaths on her grave before setting off, amid cheers from family and friends who came out to support them. They also held a minute's silence in memory of Ashling Murphy.

Their second run also took place in Nobber from the local football club with many of Dale's teammates out to support them.

Runs through the night take place at 11pm, 2am, 5am and 8am from Canterbrook, Navan, where Dale lives.

Runs will also take place at Bective GFC at 11am tomorrow , from Clarkes Pub, where Lucie works at 2pm and at Claremont at 5pm with Lucie's Parkvilla club and back to Nobber at 8pm.

Again the night-time runs will take place in Canterbrook at 11pm, 2am, 5am and they will return to Nobber for the 8am run, finishing up with the last one at 11am again in Nobber.

Dale and Lucie have thanked everyone who donated to their fundraiser and are very grateful for all support while out on the runs.
