95 new homes and childcare facility plan for Drogheda

Plans by Shannon Homes (Drogheda) Ltd for 95 new homes and a childcare facility on a six-hectares site at Colp West, Drogheda, have been submitted to Meath County Council.

The 95 residential units proposed consist of 49 houses (31 three-bedroom units, and 18 four-bedroom units) and six three-bed duplex apartments as well as 40 apartments (seven 1-bed units, 30 two-bed units, and three 3-bed units) in an apartment building above the proposed childcare facility.

The proposed childcare facility with a gross floor area of 532 sq. m is located within a two-storey building with apartments above. The proposed houses are two to three storeys in height and the duplex/apartment blocks are three to four storeys in height (with the apartment building including a five-storey corner element).

The development includes a link street, junction arrangements, pedestrian crossings and a road to the east to facilitate a connection to the existing school Gaelscoil an Bhradain Feasa on the Mill Road.

Also included are 177 car parking spaces, 159 cycle parking spaces, public open space including a linear parks, bin and bike stores, and landscaping.

The lands are primarily located to the north of Colp Road and to the west of Mill Road and Gaelscoil an Bhradain Feasa and are bordered to the south west by the Dublin-Belfast railway line. The site also takes in a section of Mill Road to northeast of the main application site. The lands are within the townlands of Colp West, Stameen, and Mornington.

Meanwhile, plans to build 99 houses and a childcare facility at Silverstream, Stamullen, have been submitted to Meath County Council.

Alcove Ireland Eight Ltd is seeking permission for the proposed development which includes seven two-bed houses, 79 three-bed houses and 13 four-bed houses as well as a childcare facility of 161sqm with outdoor play area.
