Skryne pupils lead the way in Leinster Orienteering event

Skryne NS were certainly to the fore in Santry Demesne on Wednesday last where many of the primary school students there enjoyed their first school outing in almost two years and took part in a Leinster Schools Score Orienteering event.

Skryne NS continued their strong record by taking most of the podium places, including first place in the Girls Sixth Class event where Emily Philips was first with 460pts and Hannah Swan was second, just 50 points behind.

There was also Skryne success in the Girls Fifth Class event with Katie Martin winning with 490 points and Grace Connolly in second with 470. Chloe Armstrong completed the podium for Skryne NS by finishing third with 380 points.

The first three spots in the Boys Fifth Class race were filled by Skryne NS pupils with Jimmy Shorten, Michael Dennehy and Louis Crawley taking first, second and third respectively.

In the Boys Sixth Class race Niall Smyth was pipped at the post for first place by Zach Hilliard and Jarlath MacNamara from The Burrow School, while Finn Naughton from Skryne was third.

The next Leinster schools orienteering event is will be held in Cabinteely Park on 26th January 2022.
