GALLERY: Kilberry walk shows community strength

The community walk, organised by the Kilberry Amenity & Heritage Group (KAHG), took place on bank holiday Monday. It started in the car-park of The Kilberry Pub and Kitchen and involved a 4km route through the local roads, before returning to The Kilberry, where light refreshments were served and the children were treated to pizzas and some ‘goody bags’. The children were encouraged to dress up in their Halloween costumes.

Admission was free to all and was staffed and supervised by members of the KAHG Group and other local volunteers. The emphasis was on a fun, free, family day out and allowed the community to express its collective appreciation and support for all the front-line staff and essential workers who kept things moving and who worked tirelessly to keep us safe and well during the pandemic. It also allowed the community to remember those people who died from covid in Ireland and for the community to express its condolences to those families by this small gesture.

It also showed that the strength of the Kilberry community, working together, can achieve a lot more than the sum of individual effort.PHOTOS: SEAMUS FARRELLY
