Temporary night-time closure of Abbey Road to facilitate urgent road repairs

Meath County Council has made an order for the temporary closure of Abbey Road, Navan from from the junction of Paddy O’Brien Street to Watergate Street, to facilitate urgently required road surface repairs.

Closure will be from 8pm until 5am on Monday-Thursday 18th-21st October 2021.

Trafffic from N51 will be diverted north on the R147 to Balmoral junction (Cannon Row North/ R147) then diverted left onto Cannon Row North to the Cannon Row/ Emmett Tce/Abbey Road roundabout. It will then be directed to the Abbey Road/Kennedy Road roundabout.

From the roundabout, traffic will be diverted right onto Kennedy Road to the Trimgate Street junction. It will be diverted left onto Market Square and from there onto Watergate Street

Traffic from the R147 travelling southbound should turn at the Fire Station onto Abbey Road. It will be diverted on Abbey Road to the Abbey Road/Kennedy Road roundabout

From the roundabout, traffic will be diverted left onto Kennedy Road to the Trimgate Street junction. It will be diverted left onto Market Square and from there onto Watergate Street

Local access to properties and for service deliveries (loading/unloading) will be maintained.

Bus stops on Abbey Road are to be relocated to a temporary bus stop at Market Square
