Navan treble for Gordon Elliott

Gordon Elliott continued to blaze a trail to the winners' enclosure with a treble at Navan today that also saw Davy Russell and Jack Kennedy each get a victory after returning from injury this week.

Russell was on board the Elliott-trained Chemical Energy while Kennedy partnered the first of Elliott's three winners in the opening maiden hurdle with Weseekhimhere.

The third Elliott winner was for the local connections of Bective Stud (Noel and Valerie Moran) as Tullybeg obliged.

Bought for £50,000 in January last year after running in two point-to-points in 2019 for Colin McBratney, Tullybeg has now won four times.

Elliott is now on six winners for the season after returning to the track with a runner on the flat last Tuesday and takes eight runners to Listowel tomorrow.

Meath trainers Michael Mulvany and John McConnell were on the mark at Gowran Park today.

The Mulvany-trained and owned Ideal Pal won an apprentice handicap with Limerick jockey Wesley Joyce on board.

The McConnell-trained Fennor Cross prevailed in a handicap where two heads separated the first three home.

McConnell enjoyed a double on the day with a winner at Navan also where Yamato, claimed out of Michael Halfords for €5,000 in 2019, won a handicap hurdle to add to a success on the flat at Wolverhampton in October 2019.
