Trainer Gordon Elliott back on the track today

First Elliott winner could arrive at Sligo

Back on track today and probably back in the winners' enclosure tomorrow.

Meath trainer Gordon Elliott returned to the track today at Punchestown after serving a six-month IHRB ban imposed last March.

Unusually for the top national hunt trainer, his first runner was on the flat at Punchestown - Oh Purple Reign - and it finished down the field.

However, for Elliott the important thing was to get back to work officially.

Now that he has cleared that hurdle he will be looking for the first winner and there could be a double on the card at Sligo tomorrow.

The Sliding Rock could land the first at Sligo and Elliott could follow that in the second last race on the card with Fancy Foundations.

Willie Mullins has a runner in each of those races as well so the duel between the champion and challenger is set also to start again.
