Devoy and Finnerty could play part in push for European glory

Ashbourne's Dawson Devoy and Skryne's James Finnerty could feature for Bohemians this evening as they go in search for what would be a big financial bonanza for the Dublin club.

The Gypsies take on Icelandic side Stjarnan in the second leg of the Europa Conference League first qualifying round at the Aviva Stadium this evening, 7.45.

Should they progress Keith Long's side would receive prize money of €350,000. Up to 6,000 seats were made available to spectators for the game with the allocation sold out within 24 hours.

Devoy played a prominent role in helping Bohemians dig out a 1-1 draw with the Icelandic side in the first leg last week.

Stjarnan took the lead in the opening half of that game that was played in Stjornuvollur, but on the 63rd minute Bohs drew level. Devoy picked up possession, cut into the opposition box before unleashing a shot that was deflected past the Stjarnan goalkeeper.

Devoy - who was part of the Irish u-21 squad that played a series of friendlies in Spain in May - was a prominent figure in the Bohemians engine room in Iceland.

As well as having a big say in his team's equaliser he also had an effort that just curled over the bar in what was a very enterprising display.

Skryne's James Finnerty was an unused substitute for Bohemians in that first leg tie but he may get a run out this evening.

Sligo Rovers also play FH Hafnarfjordur in a Europa Conference League First Qualifying Round second leg tie this evening. Rovers trail 0-1 from the first leg.
