Kevin Cahill has stepped down as Chairman of the Meath GAA Football Review Committee

Cahill steps down as Football Review chairman in wake of Flynn resignation

The fallout from Bernard Flynn's shock resignation as Meath under-20 football manager continued this morning with the news that the chairman of the recently formed Meath Football Review Committee, Kevin Cahill, has resigned from his position.

All-Ireland SFC winner Cahill was ratified as chairman of the Football Review Committe at April's Co Board meeting, but he has now stepped down from that role in support of Flynn's decision to resign as under-20 manager.

The Football Development Committee comprised of Cahill, Owen Brennan, Conor O'Donoghue, Gerry McEntee, Barry Callaghan and Seamus Kenny.

When the committee was announced Co Board chairman John Kavanagh hoped that the committee would improve structures in Meath GAA, similar to what Dublin did in 2009. Part of the Review Committee's remit was also to appoint a full time football development manager.

However now those plans are in tatters.

The Co Board executive met yesterday following the Meath GAA Championship draws in Pairc Tailteann to discuss the fallout from Flynn's resignation, but this morning's news is another huge blow for Meath GAA.

In brief statement, Meath Co Board confirmed Cahill's resignation and wished his well in the future.

"Meath GAA can confirm that Kevin Cahill has stood down from his position on the football development committee. We wish Kevin all the best in the future. "
