Two men arrested after Garda car was rammed in Slane this morning

Gardai in Navan are appealing for anyone with information to come forward after an unmarked Garda patrol car was rammed at the cross roads in Slane this morning.

Gardaí attempted to stop a car on the N2 outside Slane at approximately 9.20am this morning. The car failed to stop for Gardaí and a managed containment operation was carried out.

This operation was brought to a conclusion shortly after when the car in question collided with a Garda patrol car.

The five occupants of the car then fled the vehicle on foot. No injuries have been reported at this stage.

Two men, both aged in their 20s were arrested and taken to Navan Garda Station.

Upon searching the car Gardaí discovered a quantity of items believed to be intended for use in crime such as snoods, hats, masks, screwdrivers, sledge hammer, bleach and petrol.

The vehicle itself has also been confirmed as being stolen from the UK and Gardaí are liaising with the relevant authorities in this regard.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to contact them at Navan on 046 907 9930 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
